Top Navigation and Maps Apps Performance in Nigeria Q4 2022

The fourth quarter of 2022 saw notable trends in the performance of the top five navigation and maps applications in Nigeria. Below is a detailed analysis based on data from Sensor Tower.

Street View Map and Navigation experienced a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at around 15K in late September and peaking at approximately 24K by the end of December. Active user numbers also showed a positive trend, rising from about 13.9K to 21.6K over the same period.

Google Maps Go maintained a consistent download rate throughout the quarter, with weekly downloads fluctuating between 10.7K and 12.9K. The app had a stable active user base, starting at roughly 397K and ending the quarter at approximately 368K.

Maps Driving Directions saw a significant decrease in weekly downloads from around 22.8K at the end of September to about 4.5K by late December. Active user numbers reflected a similar trend, declining from approximately 12.6K to 5.9K over the quarter.

GPS Navigation Live Map Road showed a consistent increase in weekly downloads, rising from about 5.3K in late September to nearly 7K by the end of December. Active users also grew steadily, starting at about 9.2K and reaching nearly 12K by the end of the quarter.

Live Satellite View GPS Map had a varied performance in weekly downloads, peaking at around 5.5K in late November before dropping to about 3.5K by the end of December. Active user numbers showed a similar pattern, peaking at approximately 5.3K in early December and ending the quarter at around 3.8K.
